Timeline Films is a Scottish based independent media company producing quality popular factual television.

Broadcast on BBC1 Scotland in Autumn 2010, Timeline Films' history series, “Grand Tours of Scotland” consistently achieved a 20-30% audience share.

Presenter Paul Murton was inspired to write the series by a well-thumbed Victorian copy of “Black’s Picturesque Guide to Scotland” which had been in his family for generations. Letting its pages guide him, he set off to find out why tourism has flourished. Who the early tourists were? What attracted them, and what they made of their experience?

BBC Scotland has commissioned a second series of “Grand Tours” which is now in pre-production. Filming will begin in the spring and summer when Timeline will once again be on the road, touring the country and recapturing the golden age of Scottish tourism. The new series will air in autumn 2011.
